We Welcome You …

I was sad to learn that the “welcome to camp” song the counselors sang to us as we arrived and departed was not exclusive to my summer camp, Bear Pole Ranch.

I learned this startling fact recently.

I am currently listening to Mel Brooks’ autobiography ”All About Me” (audiobook performed by the legend himself). Of course, it’s not a book about his camp experience, but he does talk about his childhood summer camp days and eloquently sings the welcoming song.

I recommend the audiobook over the print version specifically because Brooks narrates it. You’ll feel like you’re in his living room as he regales you with his life story. 

And what a story it is. Whether you read the book or listen, it is a great master class on comedy, perseverance, true love, and life-long friendships.
